All rods and reels require preventive maintenance to hold corrosion at bay and remain in good working order. At the end of each fishing trip, rinse your rods and reels gently with fresh water by a garden hose. Avoid using high pressure water on reels because it will force salt deposits deeper into the reel,causing problems later.(if you are fishing in saltwater). Clean and lubricate all moving parts following manufacturer's instructions.
